A programme of workplace based relaxation techniques to aid wellbeing

Kind Hands Massage Stories and Songs

Wellbeing in the Early Years, uses the concept of Kind Hands.  We provide activities using massage stories and positive and nurturing touch through nursery rhymes and songs for early years children and their parents and carers.

Kind Hands can also be used with children with special and complex needs.  It provides an enjoyable programme of positive touch for parents and carers.

'The children love the Kind Hands song and I really enjoy teaching them. The songs and stories make it so much more interesting than just doing massage. It just takes it to another level and creates so many more possibilities.'
Instructor, Worcestershire

'It was a wonderful course.  I enjoyed it very much and will be doing all the activities with the children and families in my groups.'  Home Start Volunteer

Children learn best when they are healthy, safe and secure, when their individual needs are met and when they have positive relationships with the adults caring for them.   Our activities contribute to the personal, social and emotional development of children in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

Kind Hands:
  • is a programme of positive touch and clothed, child to child massage
  • is a programme of clothed parent to child massage
  • is based on a concept of respect and choice
  • helps children’s development through play
  • uses simple, adaptable and effective techniques
  • is taught by adults working with young children and their parents
  • is used at home by children and their parents

We weave positive and nurturing touch into well loved stories and nursery rhymes with simple touch strokes on the back, arms and hands. Children ask permission and have the right to say ‘no’.  They are provided with the opportunity to develop their co-ordination, control and movement.

Nurturing touch helps children and their parents bond, creating closer relationships. Parents can enjoy giving their children a bedtime story massage on the back which calms a young child and improves their sleep.

Kind Hands Massage Stories and Songs provides an effective programme for use with children and adults in children's centres, family centres, nurseries, playgroups and other organisations.  It can be used as a development of infant and baby massage and also used at home.

"Thank you very much for such a wonderful, engaging course.  I can't wait to start implementing all the ideas and techniques which we will be starting immediately."
Foundation Stage Leader, Croydon 2014

"It gave me lots of ideas I hadn't thought about and also the confidence to try."

"The way in which our individual setting's needs were considered was impressive."
